Apex Learning Apex Learning is an online program whereby students may take classes for credit (9 weeks) or course (18 weeks) recovery. These classes are aligned with the NC Standard Course of Study. Students will, under the supervision of a facilitator, proceed through the courses in order to receive credit for classes for which they may have, for whatever reason, failed to receive credit previously. The courses are self-paced and have regular assessments throughout. This program may also be utilized for assistance with regular classroom instruction. Anyone interested in further information may contact the Apex Learning facilitator, Tim Drum (tdrum@mcsnc.org) at (828) 766-3400 or assistant principal Dr. Pam Pitman (ppitman@mcsnc.org) at (828) 766-3400.
NCVPS is a program that, like Apex Learning, allows for students to participate in an online environment. The difference is that this program is actually directed by an instructor from a remote location. The student and instructor interact via email. There is a local facilitator present with the student to insure security and to deal with any potential problems. NCVPS sets the beginning and ending dates and reports all scores to the LEA. Like Apex Learning, this program is aligned with the NC Standard Course of Study. Please contact Tim Drum at (828) 766-3400 for more information.
